On November 29, according to informed Iraqi sources arriving in the Jordanian capital of Amman, Col. Ibrahim Jasim, Lt. Col. Abd al-Sattar Khalaf, Capt. Ali Husayn, Capt. Dawud Muhammad and Capt. Umar Abd al-Razzaq al-Ubaydi were shot dead at the "Basmayah" firing range, south of Baghdad. They were five Iraqi officers from the Republican Guard, accused of planning and preparing to assassinate Qusay Saddam Hussein while he was inspecting Republican Guard units and the Special Guard, when they were carrying out mobilization exercises last October on the Tikrit-Kirkuk axis.
