Pakistani prosecutors appealed against the life jail term for deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, seeking the death sentence for his hijacking and terrorism convictions
Pakistani prosecutors appealed against the life jail term for deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, seeking the death sentence for his hijacking and terrorism convictions. Raja Qureshi, advocate-general of Sindh province, filed two appeals before the Sindh High Court, one against Sharif's sentence and the second against the acquittal of his six co-accused, including Sharif's brother. "We are not satisfied with the judgment against Sharif," Qureshi, told reporters. "We want complete justice and in the case of hijacking the only penal action is maximum punishment." The international community had urged that Sharif not be sentenced to death at his original trial.
