Pasadena Superior Court Judge Michelle R. Rosenblatt upheld the jury recommendation and sentenced Jason Donaldson to death. Donaldson, 35, was convicted on May 18 of the August 1998 rape and murder of 46-year-old Tran Khen. Donaldson, who is already serving a 200-plus- years-to-life sentence for attempted murder and carjacking, had been linked to the killing through the state's DNA databank of convicted felons.
