Patrick Jason Stollar has been formally sentenced to death

Patrick Jason Stollar has been formally sentenced to death for killing an elderly woman during a June 2003 robbery. Allegheny County Judge David Cashman sentenced 29-year-old Stollar, white, after he confessed to killing 78-year-old Jean Heck in her home during a burglary. A jury ordered the death penalty on Feb. 22. Stollar acted as his own lawyer at trial and conceded he killed Heck. But he said he was mentally ill.
