Patrick Knight , 39, white, was executed. Knight was sentenced to death for the Aug. 26, 1991 fatal shootings of Walter Werner, 58, and his wife, Mary Ann, 56. Knight lived in a trailer next door to the couple's home just outside Amarillo. Codefendant Robert Bradfield, who was 19 at the time, was sentenced to life in prison. Knight becomes the 18th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Texas, the 28th in the USA and the 1085th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
