Patrick Poland, 50, white, was executed by lethal injection

Patrick Poland, 50, white, was executed by lethal injection. He was pronounced dead at 15:07. He was convicted of having killed two guards whilst robbing a security vehicle in 1977. He was the second person to be executed in the State during the year, the 21st since the State resumed executions in 1992. He was the 22rd to be executed in the U.S. during the year and No 621 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
