President Ricardo Maduro called for a thorough investigation into a police officer's claim that the Security Ministry had summarily executed some 20 suspected criminals. The president said that he expected the National Internal Security Council (CONASIN) to examine the charges made by Security Ministry official Maria Luisa Borjas. Borjas had told journalists that a four-year investigation revealed that Security Ministry personnel and police had carried out at least 20 extrajudicial executions.
