Purna Maya Shrestha claimed that her Nepali, Ishowri Shrestha, who was facing a death sentence in China, was innocent. Speaking during a press conference in Kathmandu, Purna Maya Shrestha, appealed for the pardon of her husband. On 30 May, a Tibetan court had sentenced to death Ishowri Shrestha and Ravi Dahal of after finding them guilty of smuggling heroin. The court had also sentenced Rewat Kumar Dahal of Jhapa to a 15 years' imprisonment in the same case. The convicts had allegedly been detained with 30 kg of heroin in 2003.
