Robert Leslie Roberson III, who had been found guilty of capital murder three days earlier, was assessed the death penalty by an Anderson County jury.
The 36-year-old Roberson displayed no emotion when the verdict was read by 369th State District Judge Bascom W. Bentley III.
On February 11, the same jury had deliberated for 4 hours before finding Roberson guilty of capital murder in connection with the death of 2-year-old Nikki Curtis, his biological daughter, on Jan. 31, 2002
