Ruling and opposition parties criticized China for failing to give Seoul prior notice of its execution of a Korean citizen convicted of drug-trafficking. They also expressed regret over the death of one of his three accomplices in prison.
"Given diplomatic procedures and friendly bilateral relations, the Chinese government should have notified the Korean government of the execution in advance," said Jeon Yong-hak, a spokesman for the ruling Millennium Democratic Party (MDP).
The opposition Grand National Party (GNP) said the Chinese government's neglect of diplomatic practices and procedures in executing the Korean drug-runner was deplorable.
