"As for new proposals concerning the death penalty, our committee will be categorically against it," Chairman of the legislation committee Pavel Krasheninnikov told Interfax. The parliamentarian was offering his comment on his former fellow United Russia parliamentary group member Valery Gartung's intention to initiate amendments to the Criminal Code that would impose the death penalty for terrorism and hostage taking.
