Taymuraz Mamsurov, the president of North Ossetia, a North Caucasus republic within Russia, called for the moratorium on the death penalty in the country to be ended.
Speaking on live television on the eve of the anniversary of the Beslan school hostage-taking tragedy, Mamsurov addressed Russia's president and parliamentarians: "We are again asking for the moratorium on the death penalty for terrorists to be lifted in our country. Since there is no moratorium on murdering children on our planet, there must be no moratorium on killing murderers."
