SAUDI ARABIA: CITIZEN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR SHOOTING POLICE OFFICER ’30 TIMES’

Saudi Arabia’s specialised criminal court sentenced a man to death on September 16, 2018 for shooting and killing a police officer.
The court issued a preliminary sentence against seven Saudi nationals accused in the case, local media reported.
The main individual was found guilty of shooting the officer 30 times in his car, while the other six were charged with failing to report him and misleading investigators.
The shooter was reportedly influenced by instructions from ISIL to “target military personnel, pledge allegiance to its leader and adopt its extremist ideology”, the newspaper said.
The court ruled that the main accused should face the death penalty and then be crucified. The other six were given prison sentences.
