seven people accused of kidnapping and murder in one of Pakistan's semi-autonomous tribal areas have been executed on the orders of local elders.
According to tribesmen in Orakzai agency, the gang members were captured by locals after an exchange of gunfire.
They appeared the same day before a jirga, or council of local elders, which condemned them to death.
The sentences were carried out on the spot.
Several human rights groups have labelled these courts as "summary justice".
But the tribesmen say they are centuries-old traditions.
The tribal areas conduct their own legal affairs and are not subject to Pakistani federal laws.
