Humphries was convicted of murder for the shooting death of Mendal Alton "Dickie" Smith during a robbery on New Year’s Day 1994.
Humphries becomes the 3rd condemned inmate to be executed in South Carolina this year, and the 57th this year in the USA and the 1001st overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
