Six people convicted of trafficking heroin and ecstasy into Vietnam from Cambodia were sentenced to death by the People's court of Tay Ninh in southern Vietnam. The court found Lam Van Banh, Lam Thi Ha, Pham Hong Son, Nguyen Minh Hung, Dang Tat Thanh and Nguyen Thanh Binh guilty after a three-day trial. They were arrested in May 2003 and were convicted of trafficking 103 kilos of heroin from Cambodia to Vietnam to sell in southern economic hub of Ho Chi Mi City. Police had also seized 606 ecstasy pills. Three other members of the gang, which operated for almost two years, were jailed for life and another one for six years.
