Six people found guilty of abducting and selling women were executed in Jining City, Inner Mongolia. The six were part of a 12-member gang that, between November 1992 and January 2000, abducted a total of 118 women under the pretext of recruiting workers.
The gang operated in Chongqing and neighbouring areas, and sold the women in Xinghe County, Fengzhen City and other regions in Inner Mongolia, as well as Datong City and Yanggao County in Shanxi Province. The women were sold at prices ranging from 3,000 yuan to 8,000 yuan, earning the gang a profit up to 600,000 yuan.
Gong Cunwang, Lin Changshou, Liu Chunhui, Liang Yingshuo, Chen Qian, and Su Shunshun were executed immediately after the Higher People's Court of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region upheld the death sentence handed down by the Intermediate People's Court of the Ulanqab League on May 28. Other criminals involved in this case were given a death sentence with respite, a life sentence, and a set term of imprisonment.
