six prisoners in central China were sentenced to death after they escaped a prison and were later caught. The Zhoukou Municipal Intermediate People's Court handed down the sentence to the six inmates who escaped the jail in Henan province in August 2005 after breaking locks on prison gates. All of them were later arrested. The group had already tried to escape several times since June but their previous attempts had failed. The report did not mention what crimes they had committed before being put in prison.
