Some 50 human rights advocates gathered outside the defence ministry in the capital, Kinshasa, chanting hymns and demanding justice for the scores of people facing death sentences for the assassination of former President Laurent-Desire Kabila. "We have chosen the Ministry of Defence, because the trial is being conducted by the Military Order Court, and we demand that the trial be held in a competent and independent court that would help determine the truth about this assassination," Floribert Chebeya, the president of the NGO Voice of the Voiceless said. "We are also demanding that the suspension of the moratorium on the death sentence be lifted and that the real killers be brought to trial before a Congolese court and not before the Military Order Court."
