Songphol Prathangthatho, 29, a former police officer, was sentenced to death by the Thai Criminal Court after being found guilty of possessing drugs with the intent to sell.
Lieutenant Prathangthatho, who had worked at Bang Sue Police Station, was arrested in 2003 in an undercover operation at a snooker club in Bangkok's Chatuchak district.
Police later found 38,400 methamphetamine pills in his room. A dealer who was arrested in May 2003 had identified Songphol as a supplier.
