the governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Administration of Prime Minister Hon Dr Denzil L. Douglas reaffirmed its strong support of the death penalty. “Our justice system allows the police to investigate the crime. If enough evidence is found they receive a fair trial with a lawyer and they are tried by a jury,” said Prime Minister Douglas. “It is not for me to say what kind of sentence can be meted out.” “I wish to emphasise just in case it has escaped anyone that the government continues as a policy not to remove the death penalty from our law books,” the Prime Minister said.
