SUDANESE OPPOSITION LEADER CALLS ON PRESIDENCY NOT TO EXECUTE DARFUR REBELS

the leader of the Sudanese National Ummah Party [NUP], Sadiq al-Mahdi, called upon the presidency institution not to execute the death penalties issued against more than 100 members of the Darfur rebel Justice and Equality Movement [JEM], involved in the 2008 Omdurman attack. Al-Mahdi warned that the country would split up if its issues were not resolved.
