The Aksy District court in Kyrgyzstan's southwestern Dzhalal-Abad Region sentenced Dayyrbek Batyrbekov to death and his brother, Kasymbek Batyrbekov, to 22 years in prison for killing a policeman. On 16 November 2003, a scuffle broke out between local people and law-enforcement personnel in the village of Akdzhol in Aksy District. Policeman D. Dooronbekov died of the injuries received in a fight between him and the two brothers.
