The Bangkok Criminal Court sentenced seven people to death in three separate drug trafficking cases. In the first case, the Criminal Court sent five members of a family (including a woman and her two daughters) to death row for amphetamine trafficking. Chamlong, Rungrat, Wirat, Wallop and Luan Pobangsai were convicted of possessing 40,000 amphetamine pills with intent to sell. In the second case, two hill tribe men, Akom Kamnerdpanya and Amiba sae Li, had been found guilty of selling 100,000 speed pills in Chiang Mai. In the third case, Nigerian national, Muhammad Sifu, was convicted of carrying seven kilograms of heroin. He was arrested before boarding a flight at Don Muang Airport. All seven sentences were subject to the mandatory appeals process.
