The Belgian Justice Ministry sent a letter to Istanbul State Security Court which said that Fehriye Erdal, one of the suspects of the Sabanci murder, would not be extradited to Turkey. According to the Belgium Justice Ministry's decision, Erdal would not be sent back to Turkey because "Fehriye Erdal is a political criminal, the gun used in the killing doesn't have the characters stated in Articles 1 and 2 of the European Convention on Prevention of Terrorism dated 1977 and as Turkey couldn't assure that death penalty won't be exercised."
