The Burkina Faso government rejected accusations of summary executions by its security forces

The Burkina Faso government rejected accusations of summary executions by its security forces. A human rights group in the West African country had said it knew of more than 100 suspected bandits summarily executed between October 15, 2001 and January 15.
Security Minister Djibril Bassole said that those killed were not executed in cold blood, but had died in shoot-outs with police during a crackdown on armed crime.
