the Court of Appeal affirmed the death sentence on a fisherman for trafficking in 73.76g of Syabu. Court of Appeal judges Datuk Ramly Ali, Datuk Azhar Izhar Ma’ah and Datuk Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahim dismissed Mohd Faris Mohd Johan’s appeal against the death sentence imposed by the High Court four years ago. The High Court had on Nov 29, 2009, sentenced the appellant to death after finding him guilty of trafficking in the drug at an unnumbered house in Kampung Baru, Teluk Sepanggar, Menggatal about 6.30pm on April 9, 2005. He was convicted under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1953 which carries the mandatory death sentence on conviction.
