The Dahe Daily reported that Li Guanghui, "a third-level student from Zhengzhou", was sentenced to death for pouring sulphuric acid over two of his teachers. He had been caught cheating during an exam and the teachers refused to refund his deposit in accordance with school rules, the paper reported. In retaliation, Li returned to the school with a container of acid and threw it at the teachers.
