The Daily Telegraph criticised the Indian Supreme Court in New Delhi for annulling the death sentences passed on "three child murderers because they did not kill children for any of the usual horrible reasons, but to please the gods." According to the Telegraph "their motives in murdering and mutilating three children on their way to school in Maharashtra were entirely pecuniary. It seems pretty strange that the murderers avoided execution only because they were found to be unusually ignorant. It is obviously a mark of incredible stupidity to believe that sacrificing children's blood is a way to get rich, but it doesn't make it any less loathsome."
