The DVB [Democratic Voice of Burma] said that authorities are hearing the case involving former dictator U Ne Win's son-in-law U Aye Zaw Win and three grandchildren five days a week in order to conclude it quickly.The trial against the four accused began at a special tribunal at Insein Central Jail from 3 May with 14 charges including high treason. A person who was allowed to attend the tribunal said most were economic cases. According to news received by DVB, the hearings against U Aye Zaw Win and his eldest son Aye Ne Win have been completed. The accused said all the charges against them were not true. The hearing of Kyaw Ne Win commenced today and it is expected to continue for three consecutive days.A Rangoon-based diplomat said that the current trial is just a pretence and the accused are sure to be convicted. If they are found guilty of high treason they could all face the death penalty.
