The Dzhayyl district court, Kyrgyzstan, sentenced two men to death after convicting them of murdering police officer Mirlan Abdydzhaparov. An accomplice in the crime was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in a strict-regime colony. It was reported that the crime had taken place in early 2003 when the two defendants stoned the police officer in broad daylight whilst drunk. The young men, who were not even 25, were detained the following day.
