The European Court of Human Rights declared as admissible...

The European Court of Human Rights declared as admissible six cases lodged against Russia for events in Chechnya. The cases concern allegations by which members of the families of the plaintiffs are said to have been victims of torture and summary executions committed by soldiers of the Russian army in Grozny, as well as indiscriminate bombings by that army on civilians fleeing the city in 1999 and 2000. The Court rejected Russia's claim that that the cases had not exhausted all internal procedures and declared the complaints admissible under Articles 2 (right to life), 3 (prohibition to torture), 13 (right to an effective appeal) of the European Convention on Human Rights.
