The foreign policy commissions of the Romanian and Moldovan parliaments signed a joint declaration in which the two countries requested a new trial of the Ilie Ilascu case. The document, signed in Iasi (northeastern Romania), was concluded after two days of negotiations between the two commissions in which representatives of the foreign ministries of the two countries also participated. The declaration expressed the two sides' wish to transfer the trial to an OSCE member country and to accept its verdict.
