the General Assembly of Parliament approved the appointments of three new justices to the 13-member Supreme Court. During their confirmation hearings held between 9 and 15 November in the National Assembly, Park Si-hwan, Kim Ji-hyung and Kim Hwang-sik stated their position regarding the death penalty as follows: Park Si-hwan said "I think it would be better to review the law to abolish the death penalty"; Kim J-hyung said "Abolishing the death penalty has to be considered more actively"; and Kim Hwang-si said "I am personally an abolitionist of the death penalty but it is also true that as a justice there are things to consider, including public opinion".
