The German Christian Democratic Konrad Adenauer Fund issued a statement saying the organisation had suspended co-operation with the Lithuanian Christian Democrats led by Kazys Bobelis, after its leaders proposed the re-introduction of capital punishment in Lithuania.
In September a group of Seimas members from the Social Liberal and Christian Democratic factions called for the death sentence to be re-instated for terrorists and war criminals. The statement was signed by Bobelis and his party board chairperson Petras Grazulis.
