The Kurds of Kazakhstan called on the international community to come to the defence of the leader of the Kurdish liberation movement, Abdullah Ocalan. They also appealed to the Turkish Parliament, asking them "not to take rash decisions", in particular, not to carry out the death sentence that the Turkish court passed on Ocalan on 29th June 1999.
