The Municipal Intermediate People's Court in Jinan Province sentenced Dai Jinggang (2071 7234 0494), director of the project office of Shandong Yitong Investment Consultancy Ltd Co (Yitong Investment Co), to death and confiscation of 100,000 yuan of assets, the Dazhong Daily reported. On 13 July 1997, Yitong Investment Co, which is a state-owned enterprise, signed an agreement with Beijing Metallurgy Equipment Research Institute to conduct a renovation project.
The company appointed Dai as the director of the project office.
From July 1997 to January 2000, Dai allegedly obtained 6m yuan of the project's funds illegally and embezzled 910,000 yuan for his own expenses, the paper said.
