The National Police Agency (NPA) recently disciplined two police officers for their negligence of duty regarding China's execution of a South Korean drug trafficker in 2001, NPA officials said.
In a recent disciplinary committee meeting, the NPA suspended a police major and former foreign affairs officer to the South Korean embassy in Beijing, identified by his family name Kim, from his office. It also ordered a one-month salary reduction to a police captain and former foreign affairs officer to the South Korean consular office in Shenyang, identified as Lee.
NPA officials said: "They were disciplined for their neglect of duty in protecting human rights of overseas Koreans in relation to China's execution of a South Korean drug dealer."
