The pressure group 'Hands Off Cain' criticised the execution stating that: "it is unacceptable that judges from abolitionist states intervene on behalf of countries that ask them to apply the death penalty. The judges from South Africa and Great Britain, who took part in the Court of Appeals ruling that convicted Bosch, should have refused to apply a conviction that is ruled out by their own countries. But the faults behind Marietta Bosch's hanging are also of a political nature from the British and South African governments' point of view as they could and should have intervened based on the resolution passed by the Commission on Human Rights, and approved by those same countries, which categorises the death penalty as a Human Rights matter and thus not applicable to the internal sovereignty of states.
