The Saitama District Court sentenced a 28-year-old Chinese man, formerly a graduate student in Japan, to death for killing his girlfriend and her husband.
Xue Song stabbed Xu Xin, 29, and her husband Gu Jingqi, a 39-year-old office worker, in the parking lot of the couple's apartment building in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, on September 2000, according to the ruling.
Xue and Xu were both graduate students at Tsukuba University in Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo. The defendant killed the couple after the woman ended their relationship, the ruling said.
