The Supreme Court commuted the death penalty of three gang rape convicts into ten years imprisonment each. The three, named as Saif Ullah, Asghar and Hamid had been convicted by the anti terrorism court under section 10 (4) of gang raping two women in November 1999. Abdul Wahid Chaudhry, lawyer of the accused had pleaded that there was a contradiction in the statements of the witnesses and that the medical report was fake.
