The Taliban publicly hanged a man suspected of spying for the US in Kandahar and tied a satellite phone to his corpse, according to witnesses quoted by the Afghan Islamic Press.
"This morning the Taliban hanged an Afghan, whom they suspected was spying for the Americans, at Shaheeda intersection in Kandahar city and wrapped the satellite phone around his body," the Pakistan-based news agency reported.
