the Thai embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, asked the Legal Counsel (LBH) regarding the condition of two Thais who had been sentenced to death for possessing 12.9 kg of heroin. "The embassy has contacted LBH-Medan via telephone to ask about the condition of Namsong Sirilak (34) and Saelow Praseart (58)," a lawyer, Irham Buana Nasution, said. He said the embassy wanted to meet with the two convicts. Namsong and Saelaw were arrested on Jan 21, 1994 after authorities at the Polonia International Airport here found 12.9 kg of heroin in their possession. The two were friends of Indian national Ayodya Prasad Chaubey, who was executed n August 5, also for possessing the heroin. Both Namsong and Saelow were sentenced to death in December 1994. The Supreme Court on June 28, 1995 rejected their request for a judicial review of their case.
