The U.N. Mission for the Verification of Human Rights in Guatemala (MINUGUA) said the assassination in April of Guillermo Ovalle, an accountant for the Rigoberta Menchu Foundation, was a summary execution.
MINUGUA said that the circumstances of the crime, the anonymous telephone calls to foundation members and the campaign of intimidation against human rights advocates all led them to believe this may have been a summary execution.
