The Uzbek Supreme Court in the capital Tashkent sentenced one man to death and another 13 to prison terms of up to 24 years for their part in Islamic separatist fighting in November 1999 that claimed 11 lives. Usbek authorities claimed that the man sentenced to death, Polvonnazir Khodzhayev, had previously carried out various tasks for the separatists.
