Thirteen Afghans appeared in court charged with the Ariana hijacking after the Stansted airport four day stand-off. They are believed to be seeking political asylum. On the same day 73 of the hijack victims flew home to Kandahar to a heroes' welcome. However, Jack Straw said that 69 of the 74 passengers remaining in Britain have sought asylum.
