Three drug traffickers were executed by hanging after their death sentences were confirmed by Iran's Supreme Court. The armed traffickers had been arrested by police in the Mazandaran province in northern Iran after smuggling 7,330 kg (16,120 lb) of opium and 510 kg (1,120 lb) of heroin. They were originally sentenced to death by the revolutionary courts.
