Timothy Gribble, 36, white, was executed by lethal injection. He had been convicted of raping and killing a 36 year old, white woman, Elizabeth Libby Jones, on 9th September 1987. He was the 12th person to be executed in the State during the year, No 211 since the State resumed executions in 1974. He was the 24th to be executed in the U.S. during the year and No 622 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
