Twenty criminals were shot in Xian, Shaanxi province, as part of the Strike Hard campaign, which has seen more than 1,000 executed in two months. The convicts were executed after a public sentencing rally attended by several thousand people. The sparse newspaper report by the Huaxi City News said one man, Li Jianwei, 29, had been executed for killing a man who took his girlfriend from him.
