Two high-ranking officials from central China's Hunan Province were sentenced to death with a two-year suspension after being convicted of corruption and bribery

Two high-ranking officials from central China's Hunan Province were sentenced to death with a two-year suspension after being convicted of corruption and bribery. According to the verdict pronounced by the Hunan Higher People' s Court, Lin Guoti, former director of the Hunan Machine Building Industry Bureau, accepted bribes to the amount of 4.87 million yuan between 1992 and 1998. Jiang Yanping, former deputy manager of the Hunan Construction Works Co., was found guilty of taking 1.87 million yuan in bribes, embezzling 724,981 yuan and being in possession of 4.94 million yuan worth of illegal property of unidentified origin. Both former officials were deprived of their political rights for life. In addition, Jiang was fined one million yuan and Lin 1.05 million yuan.
